Why I dance

(this list is inspired by Douglas Dunn)

to prepare for and keep up with the changes

to connect to an express energy through my physicality

to have a conversation between my intuition, imagination and body awareness

to witness others dance and experience community

to keep my thoughts in check

to become more embodied

to find a sense of flow

to listen deeply

to process thoughts and stress through a physical practice

to have a daily ritual of creativity and action

to overcome addictions

to strengthen my sense of presence and increase awareness

to find moments that are alive

to hear my own voice more clearly

to cope with stress

to balance peace and life

to experience compassion for humanity

to feel a sense of unity with the music

to follow a flow while dancing with others

to overcome my own suffering

to stay connected to a vital heritage of dancers that have come before me

to take care of my nervous system

to stay grounded in my body

to dance with others
